Firing Dr. Quadro

My outside source reviewed what was found and told me to run from Dr. Quadro. He's done.

He also said I need to demand an appointment with Dr. Brennan Monday.

He also told me I should be pissed about the Radiation Therapist referring me to the Oncologist. That was the job of the Urologist.

My outside source was yelling , he was so upset.

Calling Dr. Brennans office first thing Monday morning.

This sucks.

Russ, Sorry to hear you are going through a rough patch during a time when everything should be a ROCK SOLID PROCESS.

The way it worked for me is Urologist recommend (or refers you to) an Oncologist. The Oncologist will be the one who owns the action of referral to radiation oncologist or other. If you were sent to a radiation oncologist, but they thought that you needed chemo for whatever reason the radiation oncologist should have referred you back to your Oncologist. Then your Oncologist should make the call onb next steps.

I would highly recommend you ask your urologist and oncologist to consult Doctors Larry Einhorn and Craig Nichols. Dr. Einhorn can be reached at the Indiana University Medical Center at 317/274-8157; Dr. Nichols at the Oregon Cancer Center at 503/215-6186.

Dr. Einhorn and Dr. Nichols were the terrific doctors that treated Lance Armstrong during his bout with stage 4 testicular cancer. My friend and fellow fundraiser for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Bob Hammer (Founder - Have a Ball Foundation http://www.haveaballgolf.com/about.htm,) consulted with Dr. Nichols and was able to get a second opinion that made a significant change in Bob's life.

I hope this helps. I want to ensure you get the best and these guys are the best in the world.

LIVESTRONG!

Brian,

Thank you so much. It seems like the common thread here is that I've never seen a regular Oncologist. I had surgery by my Urologist and was then sent to the Radiation Oncologist who refered me to Dr. Quadro without talking to my Urologist.

If you saw the comment in the last post you see I have a couple good friends that have history with a great Oncologist. I'm going to ask my Urologist, Dr. Brennan, to refer me to their guy, Robert Miller. I'll mention and distribute the phone numbers you gave me to all involved.

Thanks for the support,

Russ

Russ,
After my surgery, I was sent to Oncology at Sutter for Chemo, and then they referred me to radiation when I was done with chemo treatments. However, before I went to radiation, I had my consultation meeting like I told you before with all my current and prior people that worked on my case to ask questions. I was very happy with my treatments at Sutter. My current Oncology Doctor is Luko Laptalo. He is probably in his late 30's or early 40's (not a good gusser of age). Why did you have your surgery at Suttr Memorial and then change to Mercy for treatment? I love Sutter, but I'm very partial.

I had my surgery at Mercy. The only time I have been to Sutter was for the second opinion before surgery.
